Post-Initial Response 1) Communicate with Engine Room and ask for problem? 2) Plot position on chart. 3) Obtain updated weather report. 4) Estimate drift rate under current conditions . 5) If near land, prepare anchors. 6) Contact company designated person. 7) Depending on the situation, consider the use of jury anchor to slow down     drift. 8) If possible early decision to anchor at safe depth should be made. 9) If on-board repair not possible, or length of time for repairs too long     request for shore assistance (tugs,etc). 10) Maintain proper and timely deck log-book entries.     ...
